In October 2021, in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Rubin Fortunato made a financial contribution to the Coffee Closet with Barista Jake, a local organization that provides special needs teens and adults a safe place to work, socialize, and gain job and life skills. Angela and Jason McFarland and their son, Jake, who is on the autism spectrum, started the organization to make a positive impact on both the special needs adults and teens who work there, as well as the community at large, by combining Jake’s love of coffee with philanthropy and a sense of welcome for all.
The Coffee Closet (located inside the Vinyl Closet Records, the McFarland family’s business, in Norristown, Pennsylvania) is 100% donation-based and gives their profits on a monthly basis to a different local charity. Rubin Fortunato is proud to support the Coffee Closet in their mission to provide educational and employment opportunities to special needs teens and adults in an inclusive environment.
