The Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s Employment Law Institute 2024 will take place at the CLE Conference Center of the Wanamaker Building in Philadelphia on Monday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 16.  This year, attorneys from our Firm will present two topics (both presentations are scheduled for Monday afternoon):

  1. Michael J. Fortunato, Esquire of our Firm, along with Julie A. Uebler, Esquire and Joyce L. Collier, Esquire of Uebler Law, LLC and Liz M. Chacko, Esquire of the National Women’s Law Center, will present The Weaponization of Defamation Claims in Sexual Harassment Situations.  They will provide an overview of recent case law relating to defamation claims by accused harassers against individuals who have made workplace sexual harassment complaints, the potential for retaliation claims against those who bring defamation claims against sexual harassment complainants, attempts by accused harassers to sue employers and/or investigators for defamation, and practical tips for reducing the risk of escalating legal exposure for all parties.
  2. Christopher S. Koller, Esquire of our Firm, along with Julianne Peck, Esquire of HomansPeck, LLC, will present Oh My: The Lions, Tigers, and Bears of Non-Compete Clauses.  They will discuss the significant changes that have occurred in a number of states regarding non-solicitation/non-competition agreements, offering an in-depth look at recent cases and revised statutes in some of the more “problematic” jurisdictions and exploring application of the law from a plaintiff and defense perspective.
