Effective January 1, 2023, New York amended its Paid Family Leave Act.  Previously, the Act provided 12 weeks of job-protected, paid time off at 67% pay (up to a cap) to (1) care for a newly born, adopted, or foster child; (2) provide assistance when a member of the family is deployed abroad on active military service; or (3) care for spouses, domestic partners, children and step-children, parents, parents-in-law, and grandchildren with a serious health condition.  The amendment now extends the law to siblings, including biological siblings, adopted siblings, step-siblings, and half-siblings.  See N.Y. SB 2928.
