In our second post in a series devoted to celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re again providing some practical tips for protecting and promoting good mental health in your workplace, along with examples of how we tried to put our own advice into practice this week.
Tip #5: Get to know your coworkers. It will help you to feel more connected to them and it will promote a sense of belonging. This week, we rolled out a new game called Whose Clue Is It Anyway? The game will feature one employee (guest) each week. Three facts, as provided by the guest, ranging from a difficult fact to an easy fact about them, will be released to the Firm over three days. Each Firm employee gets only one vote to guess the guest. A correct guess on Fact #1 yields five points; a correct guess on Fact #2 yields three points; a correct guess on Fact #3 yields one point. The Firm will award a prize to the winner of the game.
Tip #6: Get creative. Ok, yes, providing a creative outlet for your employees was Tip #3 in our post last week. But there are a lot of ways to get creative. Here’s another one. We provided a Paint by Sticker book of music icons so that employees could work together to create something “off the charts.”
Tip #7: Get outside. Fresh air and sunshine is important for your psychological well-being. We’ve encouraged employees to Take 4: Take a break – Take a coworker – Take a walk – Take a selfie.
Tip #8: Change it up…and laugh about it. People like a good routine. However, sometimes, it’s a good idea to change it up, especially when the change is in favor of doing something fun. Each month, we meet as a Firm to have lunch and discuss Firm and client issues, as well as other hot topics. For May, we dispensed with much of the “traditional” agenda to play a game (Bowl of Fun) that’s a mix of Password, Charades, and lots of laughing.
Tip #9: Celebrate mothers. This Sunday, we will celebrate Mother’s Day. Though most mothers prefer breakfast in bed, we provided breakfast at work from our friends at Einstein Bros. Bagels in Paoli.
More tips are coming next week.
