During Women’s History Month, Rubin Fortunato is highlighting the work of contemporary women – like Lauren Frantz – who make a difference by adding their voice, donating their time, and following their interests and dreams.

Lauren Frantz is a reading specialist at Lansdowne Friends School in Delaware County, PA and a mother of two teenage daughters.  She is also passionate about rescuing homeless animals, nurturing them through foster care, and placing them in permanent homes.  With three previously adopted pets of her own (rescued from a euthanasia list, a hoarding situation, and life on the streets), Lauren’s home is full of love — and fur — and the perfect place to foster the two most recent additions: Rocky (a black and white cattle dog mix) and Kitty Purry (a gray and black tabby).  When asked why her family fosters, Lauren explains: “It teaches my children about compassion.  Many animals have been given a bad break and deserve a fresh start.  By opening our home, we help remind these disadvantaged pets that they are worthy of love and that people can be kind, so that they are ready for their forever homes.”  Alongside her husband and daughters, Lauren also devotes time and energy to finding other foster homes and helping with adoption events hosted by One Love Animal Rescue, a nonprofit in New Jersey whose mission is to improve the outcomes of homeless animals.

Rubin Fortunato celebrates Lauren and the rest of the volunteers at One Love Animal Rescue who inspire us by making a difference.  For “Pupdates,” adorable pictures of adoptable pets, and other ways to help One Love Animal Rescue, visit  https://oneloveanimalrescue.org/ and @oneloveanimalrescueNJ on Facebook.
