Karen Gaster Named Shareholder of Rubin Fortunato

The law firm of Rubin, Fortunato & Harbison P.C. has named Karen Palermo Gaster a shareholder of the firm. Gaster, who joined the firm as a third-year law clerk in 2003, focuses her practice on claims involving employment discrimination, wrongful termination/retaliation and related claims, civil rights violations, and higher education law.
Her litigation experience has involved cases under Title VII, ADEA, ADA, the Equal Pay Act, the Wage Payment and Collection Law, the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, and the Rehabilitation Act. In all, Gaster has meaningfully participated in over twelve trials and arbitrations with tremendous success. In 2008 alone, she co-chaired the first two Sarbanes-Oxley trials in the Third Circuit, which were among the first such trials in the nation. In the first matter, Karen represented a corporate client and successfully defended a SOX retaliation claim. Two months later, she co-chaired a plaintiff’s SOX trial in federal court that resulted in a $1.8 million jury verdict on SOX and wrongful termination claims. Gaster also advises clients on employment policies and procedures, progressive discipline, and separation of employment.
She is a magna cum laude graduate of Peirce College and earned her law degree from Temple University School of Law, where she was awarded the First Year Scholar Award and was a member of the Political and Civil Rights Law Review.
Originally from Rochester, NY, Gaster now resides in Haverford, PA with her family.
